City of Sandy Springs: Sidewalk Program Design

SEI  will  provide design services for sidewalk construction and pedestrian improvements within the City of Sandy Springs. The annual program seeks to expand the city’s network of sidewalk, providing increased connectivity and pedestrian safety. With a construction budget of almost $450,000, the City of Sandy Springs continues its commitment to improving infrastructure, and SEI is proud to partner again with the city to serve the needs of the community by helping make their desires a reality.

The FY 2012 program consists of three individual projects:

  • Mount Paran Road from Roswell Road (SR 9) to Long Island Drive. This project is approximately 4600 linear feet of sidewalk along the south side of Mount Paran Drive connecting existing segments and installing new sidewalk, curb, gutter, and ADA accommodations.
  • Hammond Drive from Lake Forrest Drive to Mitchell Road. Approximately 900 feet of new sidewalk will extend from the existing network to serve the Braemore townhome community and Mitchell Road neighborhoods.
  • Powers Ferry Road from Whitemere Court to Old Powers Ferry Lane. This project extends sidewalk from the Atlanta City limits north for approximately 1000 feet to provide additional connectivity for southwest Sandy Springs to Chastain Park.

Specific project tasks include survey, utility coordination, public involvement, sidewalk design, shoulder design, ADA accommodations, and safety analysis.
